The Tottenham Bluegrass Festival
Well here goes our first post at Bluegrass Festival Hangout!
For our first post I wanted to feature The Tottenham Bluegrass Festival.
Location: Tottenham Ontario, Canada
The Tottenham Bluegrass Festival gets the nod here because it’s the first bluegrass festival I ever planned on attending. My first bluegrass festival was in Nova Scotia, Canada and we ended up there by chance. I was instantly hooked on bluegrass music and the attraction of bluegrass festivals. Just think if I didn’t end up at that festival, this blog likely wouldn’t be in existence.
As you may have figured I’m from Canada but don’t worry, we will be covering festivals from the United States and the other parts of the world as well. Bluegrass music is growing really big in Canada.
This bluegrass festival is held at Tottenham Conservation Area in Ontario, Canada. The festival grounds are set in a natural amphitheatre setting by the waters of the village pond. The campground is huge and is spread out in different areas of taste depending on what you prefer.
The band lineup is always stellar with a mixture of bands from both Canada and the United States. In 2011 (June 17-19) the lineup scheduled to play is :
JD Crowe & The New South
Russell Moore & IIIrd Time Out
Ray Legere & Acoustic Horizon
Audie Blaylock and Redline
Hometown Bluegrass
Bill White & White Pine
General Store
Concession 23
Honeygrass
Simcoe County Ramblers
This will be the 28th annual festival for The Tottenham Bluegrass Festival!
I’ve been to this bluegrass festival quite a few times and I don’t have a negative comment about it except that I have to keep getting there earlier each year to get a great campsite that I prefer. This festival is getting so popular that new people keep coming and others keep coming back!
If you make your way to Ontario Canada around the time of this festival I highly recommend you take time to check out this festival for sure.
